Memento Mori

When people leave this world, they usually leave behind very few traces. One way to keep them present for their loved ones is through memories in the form of images. In an open dialogue with the family, I try to distill the essence of the deceased person. Using oil paints, I paint them not as a realistic portrait, but as an imaginary image of remembrance that allows the bereaved to stay connected to the deceased. This provides comfort, strength, and hope.
